I create one-of-a kind art jewellery using mixed metals… notably gold, silver, copper and brass, found objects … usually those found in nature or on my travels…. and techniques of fabrication involving soldering, cold connections, stone setting, texturing and application of patinas. My goal is to create suggestive narrative pieces that are sculptural, irregular, organic and evoke a mysterious origin.
A bold, courageous life is large, irregular, asymmetrical and colourful . These same characteristics can be used to describe my collection of textured, mixed metal body adornments.
Working with mixed metals: sterling silver, copper, brass and 18K gold, I enjoy integrating found objects, such as small pieces of textiles and beach finds into my art jewellery. Thus, a piece usually begins with a treasured find that catches my eye because it suggests a story waiting to unfold through the making of a piece. By applying textures and patinas my art jewellery enhances the story and takes on an archaeological appeal thus adding a trace of mystery as to the origin of the pieces.
